This quasi-national park occupies the coastline stretching from Suizu in Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture to Cape Amagozen in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture. It is 108 km long and 92.46 km2 in area. It was designated in 1968, and in 1971 the Sanrihama area was removed to become the Fukui Industrial Zone. As you head north from the eastern coast of Tsuruga Bay, where the capes and beaches are arranged like a miniature garden, you will eventually move to the spectacular Kono Fault Coast, where the mountains drop off into the sea at a height of about 200 meters, and then you will encounter a variety of landscapes, including the terraces and sea cliffs near Cape Echizen, Tojinbo, where the andesite shows beautiful columnar joints, the beaches of the Kaetsu Plateau and Hashidate Hills, and the sea-eroded sandstone of Cape Amagozen. Tojinbo in particular has been a well-known tourist destination since long ago, and is close to Awara Onsen, as well as Oshima, Echizen Matsushima, and Lake Kitagata. The Echizen Coast, centered around Echizen Cape, is a new tourist destination that has come into the spotlight with the renovation of National Route 305, and Tamagawa Onsen is its base. Kono Coast has become accessible for exploration with the construction of the new Kono Coast Toll Road. [Masahiko Shimada] Located in the northern part of Fukui Prefecture, this scenic spot is one of the representative sights of Echizen Kaga Coast Quasi-National Park. The columnar joints stand as high as 25m, and the cliffs and oddly shaped rocks formed by wave erosion stretch for about 1km. There are also sightseeing boats and Tojinbo Tower, so many tourists visit.
